Many of the world’s top paddlers missed gates, a C1 paddler took the silver medal, and Dane Jackson continued his year of competitive dominance. Just another episode in the short but illustrious history of the North Fork Championship.

This recently released video recap of the fifth-annual NFC gives a deeper look into an event that has quickly become one of the most infamous creek races in the world. Going beyond results and action, however, the River Roots recap explains why Idaho attracts top paddlers from all over the world as competitors and residents. Rugged wilderness runs, roadside gnar, and generally low-key attitude characterize the Idahoan paddling experience.

From River Roots:

“The North Fork Championship V rallied the best kayakers in the world to the great state of Idaho for a weekend of incredible kayaking, amazing lifestyling, and the rowdiest parties!! The NFC Whitewater Festival is a venue that showcases the talent and energy that is in the sport of kayaking. Kayaking is among the upper echelon of any extreme sport and the NFC highlights the highest level of extreme kayak racing, photos, videos and characters in this awesome sport!”
