Watch: Pro Kayakers Run the Class V Alseseca River — Backwards

Switched in Mexico.

Paddling backwards has always provided a bit of excitement and challenge for paddlers who are looking to spice up a well-known run. Rarely has it been attempted on Class V whitewater. In 2012, Pat Keller ran the Green switch. And plenty of boaters have accidentally bounced backwards in the middle of a rapid making for a white-knuckle ride out to the bottom. In the latest edit from the Jackson boys, however, Dane Jackson, Clay Wright, Rafa Ortiz and Nick Troutman dropped into Mexico’s Alseseca River switch and ran the whole thing that way. Watch for huge back boofs and some impressive paddle saves in the narrow slides.
