Kayak anglers’ biggest bass catch is a joy to watch!
By Rich Holland
Gerardo Almaguer and his brother Chuy packed up the camping gear and the kayaks and set out from Monterrey, Mexico January 9, 2016 to start the New Year right by putting in some serious kayak bass fishing time on Lago Los Mimbres (Willows Lake).
Think about what it would be like if you could take your kayak to Mexico’s famous big bass lakes whenever you want!
This short version posted on Kayak Fish focuses on the monster bass they caught during the trip, cutting right to the chase as Gerardo quickly discovers that he has hooked a monster of a bass on a big plastic bait fished on heavy line on a spinning rig.
The footage is pretty amazing, with a couple of the best “jumps” you have ever seen captured on video. Even more fun is the audio/subtitle mix that interprets the mix of Spanish and English that is slowed down and mostly speeded up by the video settings. It’s just pure fun to watch!
When the lunker gets scooped up in a trout net it looks even bigger and the enjoyment of the moment shared by the bros is too infectious to avoid.
You can watch the complete YouTube version the brother kayakers have put together on their channel, including some fun footage of the smaller bass that led up to what the brothers themselves call “the payoff”. Meanwhile, we thank the brothers Almaguer for allowing us to share this with everyone on KayakFishMag.com!
