Jackson Kayak is launching two new fishing models at ICAST 2015: the kid-sized Skipper and a lightweight, thermoformed version of its popular sit-in Kilroy, the LT.
Introducing the Skipper
Kid kayak fishers finally have a feature rich ride to call their own. Jackson Kayak’s new Skipper is sized right for shorter arms. We don’t have a specific width yet, but we know the Skipper will be narrower and shorter than most mainline Jackson fishing models. The kid-sizing extends to Jackson’s mesh Hi/Lo Elite Seat – the Skipper gets the new 3.0 Narrow version. Don’t worry, kids won’t be stuck in the seat. Jackson says it will be a stable stand-up casting platform.
Let’s look at the fishing rigging. The Skipper comes with dual rear flushmount rod holders, rod stagers up front, plenty of YakAttack Gear Track, and the typical large rear tankwell and a flip-forward hinged hatch on the bow. Pricing and statistics (width, length, weight) will be announced later, as will a specific release date.
The New Kilroy LT
Thermoformed kayaks are stiffer and lighter than the more common rotomolded versions. In launching its Kilroy LT, Jackson is doing more than shaving off weight. The company says the popular sit-in hunting and fishing ride with its unique standing platform will be slighter longer and wider than the original. Available in Realtree HD Camo, the Kilroy LT will have a variety of available Tech Deck accessories to choose from, including a fly line skirt, mesh sunscreen, and a rigid fishing platform. There’s a paddle stager and plenty of Gear Track. MSRPs are specs are pending.
New Trim Levels
Jackson is taking a cue from the auto industry in launching three new trim levels for the Coosa HD, The Big Rig, Kraken and Kilroy families. The Pro Level is something else, including a Raymarine Dragonfly fishfinder, Nocqua Pro Power Pack waterproof battery system, Power Pole Micro Anchor, a JK Pump and Livewell (Kraken series only), and much more.
"Jackson Kayak has taken the best of their groundbreaking kayak fishing designs and added the accessories that pro fisherman demand on their kayaks. These kayaks are already well appointed with the standard Jackson rigging: gear tracks, rodholders, rod stagers, Elite seats, but they have now also added state of the art accessories from our industry leading partners to create the Pro Series Editions,” Jeff Herman of the Jackson Kayak Factory Fishing Team said via a release.
The Standard Series trim level includes Gear Tracks, Rod Holders and the Elite Seat 3.0 – consider it the most easily customizable for the do-it-yourself crew. The Elite Series trim level adds a Sealine gear pouch and Plano accessories.
