Pelican Wheeled Hard Cases
For protecting camera gear or anything else that absolutely cannot get wet or crushed, hard cases are really your only option. There are many different sizes available so keep that in mind before you buy. If you need this type of protection with wheels, check out Pelican's 1650 model. We used this case to transport our team's drone equipment, knowing that it could go straight from the airport and onto a raft without any worry. Weight can be an issue, however, since the empty case weighs in at a whopping 24 pounds. What you get is protection: solid clasps lock the lid over a water-tight rubber seal making it completely waterproof. If you need to lighten up, Pelican recently came out with their new lineup of Air cases, dropping the overall weight by about 40 percent. Check out the wheeled 1615 model, which offers comparable storage space to the 1650 at a more manageable 14 pounds. These cases are not the cheapest options out there, but they will last. You can pick up the 1615 Air case for $255; getting a foam or padded insert will cost about $100 more.
