The rocky rapids of the Roy Gorge in Scotland are usually a playground reserved for kayakers, but a group of canoeists decided to give it a try in open boats. They styled the rapids but had to hike out of the gorge just before dark after a full day of adventure.
“We went out for a day to paddle the Upper Roy but it was too low,” the filmmaker told C&K in a Facebook note. “So instead of binning the day I suggested we paddle the gorge anyway. Even though it’s almost always paddled in kayaks we had the idea that as it was low we could manage it and portage anything that was too much. It was a pretty epic day!”
