Scottish sea kayak film grabs two awards on the same day
The DVD Sea Kayak with Gordon Brown was awarded 'Best Instructional Film' at two separate film festivals in Canada – on the same day.
It was picked as winner at the 5th Annual Reel Paddling Film Festival in Toronto, and Paddle Canada's Waterwalker Film Festival in Ontario.
Gordon Brown delivers coaching sessions designed for beginners and intermediate sea kayakers. These are mixed with a beautifully shot, four-day expedition along the west coast of the Isle of Skye where Gordon lives and from where he runs Skyak Adventures.
The video is produced by Sunart Media, a production company based on the Ardnamurchan peninsular in the west highlands of Scotland, and this was it's first full-length production. Sunart Media is owned by former BBC Newsnight correspondent Simon Willis, who also runs SeaKayakPodcasts.com. "When we started shooting, Gordon and I decided we would only turn this into a DVD if we thought it was up to the high standards we set ourselves", said Simon. "We've been thrilled by the feedback we've received from thousands of customers and now we're delighted the judges at these festivals agree".
