Press Release – Jan. 2006
Kids should be paddling and having fun, but sometimes they can’t.
John L. Schnoering, owner of a small kayak business on the lower Chesapeake Bay, Traditional Outfitters, has been involved in raising money for the Pediatric Brain Tumor Foundation. For the second year in a row, he is holding a raffle to benefit the foundation.
This year he is raffling off a fully equipped Seda sea kayak with a value over $3000.00.
The raffle tickets are $10.00 and only 1000 tickets will be sold. The drawing for the kayak will be on May 22, 2006, the fourteenth birthday of his nephew Kevin, who has a brainstem tumor.
Kevin was diagnosed in June of 2003 and has survived 23 surgeries in an effort to control the hydrocephalus which is caused by the tumor. Kevin's tumor cannot be removed. “Kevin is the inspiration for this raffle,” says Schnoering. “It would be great to get the word out about the raffle. Kevin is a great kid who deserves a better life.
“Research is needed to find treatment for Kevin and other kids with brain tumors. Research is the key to his future and no organization better supports that research than Pediatric Brain Tumor Foundation.”
