Nick Troutman’s Road to the Mountains series tracks his family travels with wife Emily Jackson across the country as they prepare for the 2016 GoPro Mountain Games, June 9-12 in Vail, Colo.

After several weeks of intense race training leading up to the GoPro Mountain Games, Troutman is taking a break for some quality family time. Episode 6 follows a full day on the water with his 2-year-old son, Tucker, featuring some train-spotting, looking for animals, and of course, ending at a park jungle gym to burn a little more energy. It looks like Tucker had a blast — showcasing exactly why his parents are making an effort to get him started young! Check out more stories on how to get your kids hooked on kayaking and how to paddle whitewater with your kids.

Stay tuned for more POV-shot installments of Troutman caravaning cross-country from Tennessee to Colorado the long way as he details training tips for the multi-discipline ‘pros-versus-joes’ games, including interviews with fellow athletes and competitors, “and lots of fun and shenanigans along the way.”
