Journey to the Stikine and Sacred Headwaters (Part 2), the latest feature episode from Todd and Brendan Wells’ production company Mountain Mind Collective, concludes the Wells brothers’ 2013 expedition down the Grand Canyon of the Stikine (Watch Journey to the Stikine … (PART 1)). The crew, which also includes standout French paddlers Jules Domine and Nouria Newman, decides to run the notorious crux of the benchmark expedition kayak run at Site Zed — and then must reckon with the larger coal mining and resource development project threats to the river’s remote and pristine Sacred Headwaters area of northwest British Columbia. (Learn more about Newman’s historic run of Site Zed, marking the first time that a woman has kayaked the entire canyon without portage.
