Racing the Mighty Mississippi at Outdoors Inc.’s Canoe & Kayak Race

Saturday marked the 34th iteration of Outdoors Inc.’s annual Canoe & Kayak race, an all-inclusive mass-start, multi-craft race down the Mississippi River, which ends with a celebration at Memphis, Tenn.’s Mississippi River Park. This year Mike Herbert (pictured above leading the pack from the start), 54, from Rogers, Ark., clocked the fastest time down the course in 16 minutes, 58.6 seconds, followed by Spartacus Rabinowitz in second and Elmore Holmes in third. Tennessee’s Kata Dismukes took the women’s win in 18:53.2, with Tonya Tittle in second and Myrlene Marsa in third. Click HERE for full OICK Memphis results.
