Quebec, June 18, 2009 – The year 2009 is proving to be somewhat unique for BORÉALDESIGN, a manufacturer of high-end sea kayaks. After signing a partnership agreement with Maelströmkayak last May, the St-Augustin-de-Desmaures company located on the outskirts of Quebec City has just announced the acquisition of a company in Quebec. Starting October 1, 2009, BORÉALDESIGN will engage in the production and marketing activities of BELUGA Outdoor Gear Inc.
BELUGA is a Canadian company founded in 1997 by an impassioned outdoorsman who felt the need, using his experience and expertise in paddling sports, to create new accessories that were better adapted to his favourite activities. Careful attention to detail and the use of high quality materials have established the standards which contributed to the reputation of BELUGA products.
“When handling a BELUGA product, the attention to manufacturing detail and finish is the first thing to strike the eye, irrespective of the product’s price or complexity. We seek quality, whether its in the way we work or the materials used in production. Making innovative products adapted to kayaks and canoes, improving existing products by making them more practical and offering consumers aesthetic and vibrant accessories is our company’s mission and one that we will continue to honour, thanks to this agreement,” declared André Drolet, President of BELUGA Outdoor Gear Inc.
By acquiring this company, BORÉALDESIGN is also taking on new employees. Thus, BELUGA will be able to continue creating its products backed by the support and structure of BORÉALDESIGN. The latter is happy to announce that this transaction will safeguard all current jobs and, at the same time, increase sales.
“This acquisition is very good for our company. In addition to expanding our current range of products, we are proud to be able to maintain jobs, especially in these uncertain times. We hope that this alliance will increase market shares for BELUGA,” indicated Jacques Boulanger, General Manager of BORÉALDESIGN.
