The annual Fred Hall Fishing Tackle and Boat Show is slated to open its doors this Wednesday, March 2 and run through Sunday March 6. One of the largest consumer fishing and boating shows in the world, the Fred Hall Show puts a huge emphasis on kayak fishing and major kayak retailers will combine this year to provide an amazing selection of fishing kayaks and SUPs.
OEX Dive & Kayak Centers, Southwind Kayak & SUP Center and Dana Point Jet Ski and Kayak will all be on hand featuring Jackson Kayak, Wilderness Systems, Ocean Kayak, Native Watercraft, Malibu Kayak and Hobie.
Expect to see a lot of new models that have been beefed up and designed with fishing and the angler in mind, with everything from bait wells to fish storage taken into consideration and details down to action camera mounts and dedicated transducer scuppers included.
Stable hulls that can handle big water and big fishermen are a major selling point, while the Hobie Mirage foot-pedal propulsion system and the Native Watercraft backward-and-forward propeller pedal system can be compared to the many new kayaks that feature integrated electrical motor systems.
Jim Sammons of Jackson Kayak and the Kayak Fishing Show will be on hand at the OEX to talk about his latest Jackson design, the Kraken 13.5, while Hobie will offer demo rides on its latest models on the Hyatt Lagoon. There’s a good chance kayakers will get their first look at the new inflatable Hobie kayak/SUP that features the Mirage drive.
