The days of the PVC rod holder are so last century. Aftermarket kayak rigging options continue to multiply.

Scotty’s latest introductions pull a number of interesting tricks. The Rod Balancer is a simple yoke-shaped rod rest that works with all Scotty post mounts. Could be a good place to prop a rod during a tough fight. Sure beats using your toes.

The Coaming / Gunnel Mount looks like just the thing for a sit-in kayak with gunwales too narrow for a track system. Screws right on. As pictured, with a Gear-Head, it’s a post base, for instance, for the new Rod Balancer.

Scotty announced two other items. The Downrigger Rod Holder Adapter turns a downrigger mount into a rod holder when you’re fishing shallow. Then there’s the Glue-on Paddle Clip, made for inflatable kayaks and SUPs, where drilling is a no-go.
