Young duo plans 2,000-mile canoe trip to benefit African orphans

On August 14, Ben Swartz, 21, and Jon Detweiler, 22, will be putting in at Sugar Creek in Eastern Ohio with the intention of canoeing nearly 2,000 miles to the Gulf of Mexico to raise money for orphans and pastors in Mozambique, Africa.

The Northern Forest Canoe Trail (NFCT) will bring its 5th Annual Northern Forest Paddlers Film Festival to Lake Placid on Thursday, April 28 at the Lake Placid Center for the Arts. Doors open at 6:00 p.m. and screenings begin at 7:00 p.m.
