Google’s Street View Grand Canyon

Can't get a permit? Go online and take a virtual tour of the Big Ditch.

Google, the company-turned-verb that brought spy satellite photos to your fingertips, creepy glasses and, soon, driverless cars, has partnered with American Rivers to create a virtual tour through the Grand Canyon. They’re calling it Street View, but we’re not. No matter how cool this is–and it is very cool–the Colorado River is not a street.

So if you’re not lucky enough to pull a permit (odds vary from pretty good in the winter to 1-in-1,680 for last year’s peak launch day in September), check out the Google river view. Read more at American Rivers.
