Patagonia Black Hole Wheeled Duffle

($349 – Patagonia.com)

Patagonia is no stranger to equipping the modern adventurer with quality gear. With their Black Hole wheeled duffle they leave little to be desired. We tested the 120L model on a recent river trip (8.6 lbs), and we struggled to max out its storage space. (Patagonia also makes a 45L model in carry-on size.) We loved the sleek polyester ripstop waterproof fabric that overhangs the zippers. The bag comes with a reinforced chassis that helps protect and stabilize the luggage. The internal compression straps and smaller mesh lid pockets help organize gear. There is also a zippered side pocket. With solid wheels and handle we know this piece of luggage will be going on trips for quite some time. Our only concerns is that bag, like others in the review, is only weather-resistant — that and the hefty price tag of $349. But as with other Patagonia products we know that higher price means higher quality.

We like the large flag of fabric covering the zipper to provide protection from the elements.

Smooth rolling wheels and a lightweight build will keep this bag in service for quite awhile.
