Sunga on the Water

OMNIUNDERWEAR

They may not look sexy on his hairy bod, but sea kayak guide Paul LaPerriere doesn’t care. So when it comes to what to wear under his wetsuit, as a bathing suit, underwear on a minimalist trip and, yes, even, horseback riding attire, the choice is obvious: a sunga. The bathing trunks of choice for Brazilian men, the sunga resembles a pair of boxer briefs made from Speedo material. A soft, supportive lining holds things just right: snug, lots of breathability and no fabric bunching. They slip through the water and dry fast. “I can’t see myself ever going back to boardshorts,” says LaPerriere. “150 million Brazilians can’t be wrong.” — RS
