The Desperado Wetshoe by NRS is the perfect footwear for those who don’t want to drop the cash to buy separate shoes for play boating and creeking. Its 3mm rubber sole is thick enough to walk across rough ground without pain, but thin enough that you can cram your feet into the front of a play boat without difficulty. The zipperless high top nature of the booties helps ensure they will not be lost in a swim, and adds protection from those pesky pebbles that wreak so much havoc on feet. In addition, the neoprene is stretchy enough for easy access and removal. One of the best features of the Desperado is the rigidity of the rubber on the heel that stretches more than halfway up the back of the bootie, this does an amazing job at removing the pressure on a paddler’s heel that can be a discomfort for boaters.

While the Desperado is great for short walks to and from the river and has enough grip for straight-forward portages, it is by no means intended for hiking. The side to side stability of this shoes is not sufficient for long walks, especially with a heavy boat on your shoulder.
