MY ONE DRYBAG

The Slogg earned best-ever drybag status on the Northwest passage two summers ago, when Canadian adventurer Frank Wolf attempted that mythic journey in a 19-century rowboat. When windstorms kicked up, the team learned to winch the one-ton boat above the pounding shore using Wolf's Slogg as an anchor, filling it with gravel and burying it. Despite that repeated abuse, the bag was still water-tight and ready to portage on a 26-day, 840-mile trip from Winnipeg to Hudson Bay this past summer. "It’s a burly piece of equipment that I swear by," says Wolf. — Ryan Stuart
