Coming into this test the Synmat was my sleeping pad of choice. While expensive, it’s light weight at 1 pound 2 ounces without sacrificing a decent, 3.1 R-value and good comfort. Due to the vertical baffles it feels a bit like a bit pool mattress; the pad tends to wrap around the sleeper.

The valve system is fussy and prone to leaking. It rolls nice and thin. I’ve been comfortable using it to temperatures in the teens. The fabric is on the quieter end of the spectrum, giving this pad a good overall sleepability. It’s exactly 72 inches long when deflated, making it the shortest pad of the test while inflated. But with no built-in pillow and no taper towards the feet, it sleeps larger than it looks.

Caveat: Fussy valve system, pool toy feel.

Best for: Tall sleepers who want a light pad with no built-in pillow.
