National Kayak and Canoe Sprint Team Named

The Flatwater Sprint Senior National Team was named following the Sprint US Team Trials held on the Otay Reservoir in Chula Vista, California, from April 28-30. This team will represent the United States on a European tour, which begins next week. This tour includes World Cup competition and training with coaches Nathan Luce and Guy Wilding.

In mid-August, many of these athletes will travel to Hungary for the ICF World Championships. The complete composition of the World Championships Team is yet to be determined as selection is dependent on World Cup competitions and coaches’ evaluation.

“This is the strongest team we have fielded in years,” said Chris Hipgrave, high-performance director for USA Canoe/Kayak. “These athletes are improving so much under great coaching and we’re on our way toward having great results in international competition.”
