Kayak Surf Festival

The 20th Annual Santa Cruz Kayak Surf Festival kicks off Thursday, March 23.
This year’s event will have some exciting changes that grew out of the 2005 World Championships in Costa Rica. There is a new HP Expert Class restricted to surf vehicles under 9 feet. This is the World Cup class that will add points to qualify competitors for the US West Team for the 2007 World Championships in Spain.
The SCKSF is also one of the five events in the new 2006 World Cup Invitational, an event designed to choose the supreme international HP athlete. The finals for this event will be in Thurso, Scotland.
With manufacturers, Rodeo Champions, and a host of the best kayak surfers on the planet, there should be plenty of stoke to go around. It all happens at one of the best breaks on earth, Steamer Lane.
