The weather is often questionable up north and rain for days on end isn't uncommon. Decent rain gear is an absolute must. While on the pricey side, Arc'teryx Beta AR Pants are made of truly waterproof three-layer Gore-Tex, have taped seams, watertight three-quarter-length leg zippers, and are worth every penny. Reinforced knees, seat, and lower legs keep these pants protected from damage by boots and endure through brutal bushwhacking when you can’t find the portage trail. These pants are durable, breathable, and comfortable enough for all-day use.

Lesson learned the hard way: Cheaper rain pants won't keep you dry for long. Fit matters; be sure you aren't walking on the legs of your rain pants!
