Mike Herbert took the day at Saturday’s 33rd annual running of the Outdoors Inc Canoe and Kayak Race with the overall fastest time of 16 minutes, 2 seconds. Pete Greene came in second place in 17:14, followed by Elmore Holmes, while Kata Dismukes (18:59) beat out Kailyn McCarley, and Carol Lee Royer to win the women’s division of the popular Mississippi River race in Memphis known for its spectacular mass-start, inclusive nature and on-water demos.

    Actually it was Elmore Holmes, not Eric Mims, who finished third behind Mike Herbert and Pete Greene. Eric Mims is sidelined with an injury right now. Also, three women–Tonya Tittle, K.K. McCarley, and Dana Kinderman–finished between Kata Dismukes and Carol Lee Royer.
