Rafting Accident Claims Two
Washington state’s whitewater rafting community mourned the loss of one of the state’s leading outfitters after learning that he was one of two men who drowned on the Klickitat River Saturday.
Jeff Driver, 50, of BZ Corner, operated All Rivers Adventures with his wife, Karen, and was well-known for his devotion to safety, the Yakima Herald-Republic reports. Passenger Rollin Schimmel, 61, of Portland, OR, also lost his life in the accident.
Driver was leading a four-raft excursion on the Klickitat, which was running very high and fast. At least two rafts capsized at a logjam near the Yakama Nation Fish Hatchery near Glenwood.
