Fishell is a family paddle-making business built on the traditions of an Ontario canoe country legend. For decades, slender, slicy blades shaped by Ray Kettlewell were the samurai swords of regional canoe camps. John Fishell picked up his first "Ray-K" paddle while working at Camp Pinecrest, and became friends with the craftsman himself, learning the finer details of shaping paddle blades from rough-cut blanks. When Kettlewell announced his retirement in late 2013, John's sons, Greg and Trevor, also Pinecrest campers, convinced their father to purchase Kettlewell's equipment and carry on the tradition. The Modified Special is best suited to the environment where it evolved: The deep, flatwater lakes of canoe country. Stunning in cherry, its flexible blade is moves smooth in the water for solo paddling and effortless long-distance tripping. It's also an heirloom you'll cherish for years to come.
