Josh Blazer is not a full-time developer, just someone who loves kayaking and does a little programming on the side for fun. His coding brainchild, “Extreme Sports Kayaking” was just approved and released for sale on Apple’s iTunes Store.
The current assistant vice president and regional director of IT for the Art Institutes said he started teaching computer animation for the school 15 years ago, and has worked with a few game companies over the years.
“I hadn’t really done any programming since out of high school 20 years ago. Shortly after the iPhone came out, I learned Objective C in about a month and developed my first iPhone game in a few weekends,” says Blazer, who spends weekends paddling lakes in rivers in the Seattle area. “I noticed there were no paddling games up on the App Store, so I thought I’d give a 3D kayaking title a shot.”
